Pendant

This one is an easy but fun project.

I used three colors: red, white and translucent. If you don’t want the white and translucent to be stained, first start with those before conditioning and shaping the red clay.

I mixed the white and the translucent after conditioning them by kneading in hand. Translucent is used here to provide a stone-like feel. So, be careful not to mix them too much.

With the red clay, I decorated the pendant with flower, leaf and stem-like pieces.

Just a piece of bent metal string is added to hold the pendant. Sometimes the clay won’t hold the metals strong enough. But the important point here is to at least have the hole for it in the clay so that you can use a super glue later on for better bonding.

After baking, I didn’t use a varnish. I didn’t want a glossy look on this one but it is up to your taste of course. The last picture here was taken before baking whereas the top picture is the final look. You can see that after baking it looks more like a stone.

This is beautiful. I’m off to buy some clay now! Housework? What housework?
