Hapy New Year
January 1st, 2007

Our baby is now 3 months. Everyday, we do yoga together. At least that is how I imagine. It clears our minds.

On sunny days, I drag my big plush pillow to the backyard and I sleep with the sound of the breeze and warmth of the sun. If its rainy, then I fall asleep by the large window facing the backyard listening the rain.
I sleep at every chance I find. So deep and peaceful that it takes a while to remember who I am when I wake up. Definitely the effect of the season change.
I forced myself today to get in front of the pc and work on this image. This is one of my first digital works. It took quite a while since I am still in the learning phase.I am going to sleep now. Too tired.

Polymer clay on 8.5″x7.5″ glass surface.
An experiment on illustrating with polymer clay. It took quite a bit of time to cover the initial sketch with polymer clay so as to give a kind of 3-D feeling with vivid colors but I am happy with the result.

I woke up to a delicious smell of coffee this morning. Me being on a diet for a long time, I craved for a chocolate cake; just the perfect match to coffee, and perfect match to this week’s Illustration Friday topic.

The Turkish traditional shadow theater “Hacivat & Karagöz” was the play I most enjoyed in my childhood. It has a history going as far back as 16th century. It was still popular before TV but nowadays it is only shown on a few special occasions. I hope it is never forgotten completely.
