The photo above belongs to my make-up brush that lives with me inside my purse. I decided to put a make-up on it by applying the polymer clay pattern that I used before to decorate a switchplate. I think this will be a good example to the use of clay guns.

Pick three or four colors and put the square disk on the clay gun.

After softening the clays, place them in the clay gun as shown. A word of caution; you will either need to use soft clays or have very strong hands for this application.

After extrusion, you will obtain fine patterns with varying colors throughout the cane. Cut the cane into six equal length pieces and stack them as shown below.

Apply slight pressure with your fingers and slice the stack. Place the slices on the surface that you wish to cover and use hand roller to merge the patterns. Then you are ready to bake.
Lastly, put the clay gun in the oven at 130C (260F) for ten minutes and it will be much easier to clean it up.

On sunny days, I drag my big plush pillow to the backyard and I sleep with the sound of the breeze and warmth of the sun. If its rainy, then I fall asleep by the large window facing the backyard listening the rain.
I sleep at every chance I find. So deep and peaceful that it takes a while to remember who I am when I wake up. Definitely the effect of the season change.
I forced myself today to get in front of the pc and work on this image. This is one of my first digital works. It took quite a while since I am still in the learning phase.I am going to sleep now. Too tired.

Polymer clay on 8.5″x7.5″ glass surface.
An experiment on illustrating with polymer clay. It took quite a bit of time to cover the initial sketch with polymer clay so as to give a kind of 3-D feeling with vivid colors but I am happy with the result.

To create a 3-D challenge for myself, I set out to make a polymer clay house for crebro. It is not complete though. The plan is to add a ceiling with a small light. It will make a cute child’s room night lamp.

I woke up to a delicious smell of coffee this morning. Me being on a diet for a long time, I craved for a chocolate cake; just the perfect match to coffee, and perfect match to this week’s Illustration Friday topic.

The Turkish traditional shadow theater “Hacivat & Karagöz” was the play I most enjoyed in my childhood. It has a history going as far back as 16th century. It was still popular before TV but nowadays it is only shown on a few special occasions. I hope it is never forgotten completely.
